Under the Endocrine tab there is an anticoagulation box. When checked it has you put in the medication, then requires a PTINR box to be checked as if it was tested and who tested it.
Are they going to adjust that to where the PTINR section will have a "not required" to be tested as alot of my patients are not on coumadin/Warfarin and PTINR testing is not done with those medications?
We were just wondering the same thing. We have patients on eliquis for example so no INR is required but it still wants us to put a value.
Hello, under the medication section when in an OASIS or under the endocrine section on a note, you have the option to choose a response regarding teaching of anticoagulant monitoring. We can add an enhancement to make "not required" an option however the teaching option would apply for most patients on anticoagulants that no longer require PT/INR monitoring.
Hope this helps!

That is a nice option, but still refers to addition teaching for monitoring. Monitoring of Anticoagulation usually refers to PTINR
I am looking for something more for the patient that is on eliquis or Plavix. The system seems to be more directed into Coumadin or Warfarin. I have patients that can teach the pharmacist about these drugs and in no way require more teaching. So at the end of episode when we are ready to discharge what would we select in the above menu?
Devils advocate here.... if I select they need more training, but mark goal met isn't that contradicting myself?
Good morning Shawn,
Monitoring can also be monitoring for excessive bruising or bleeding as well. Also this section should be used for anticoagulants as well so Plavix being an antiplatelet would not need to be listed there. We did however already enter a request for an enhancement to add a "Not Required" option as well.
Hope that is helpful,
Tiffany
I have been asking this question since this question was asked. Its in an inadequate choice. You can tell a nurse did not come up with this stuff or at least someone that sees patients. The list of these examples goes on and on. I have asked numerous times to go through the entire Oasis assessment to list all the issues however no one ever will do this. Super frustrating being a field clinician.
